Henry E. Garrett received his Ph.D. from Columbia University and for sixteen years (1940-56) headed Columbia's Department of Psychology. In 1954 he was awarded the Sc.D. by the University of Richmond. At one time or another, Dr. Garrett has been visiting professor at the University of California, the University of Southern California, the University of Florida, the University of Hawaii, the University of New Mexico and the University of Virginia. Dr. Garrett ]s past president of the Eastern Psychological Association, the Psychometric Society and the American Psychological Association. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a former member of the National Research Council. The author of many books, articles and monographs, he is a member of the editorial board of Psychometrika and for ten years was general editor of the American Psychology Series.
