The hands of time appear to be turning faster every day. Already, we’ve reached Issue 6 of Sub Rosa . . . I’m not sure how that happened! And although we’re on a quarterly schedule, the deadline for each issue seems to be upon us before we know it, and the hectic scramble to give birth to our next baby consumes all of our time yet again. So much so, that the magazine has been ‘getting in the way’, so to speak, of numerous other projects we are all working on. Considering the fact that this is really a labour of love – we earn only a nominal amount from each issue, certainly not in line with the hours required – we’ve had to make some hard decisions. Certainly, we aren’t going to walk away from something we enjoy so much. But the need to free up some time is pressing, and as such we have decided – for the short term – to drop back to a half-yearly schedule. This allows us have a few months in which we don’t have to think about Sub Rosa duties at all, freeing us up to work on our various other projects. It also means that we can come back to Sub Rosa with our full energy and focus, rather than trying to manage it with multiple other goings-on. It’s not an ideal situation content-wise, as we already can’t fit all the topics we’d like into each issue, and going back to half the amount of magazines means cutting another half of that content out of contention for a slot in Sub Rosa. However, it’s hardly as if we don’t have other outlets for sharing content. As always, we keep up daily news updates, and occasional features, on The Daily Grail (www.dailygrail. com). And for any readers who wish to share information with others, there is also our Digg-like site on which any member can post to the front page, The Underground Stream of Consciousness (stream.dailygrail.com). Most importantly, the extra time will allow us to give more consideration to a print run of the magazine, something that we would love to do. And if we are able to do that, then the likelihood is there that Sub Rosa would not just return to a quarterly schedule – instead, I’d like to think that we would ramp up to a bimonthly publication (every 2 months). So bear with us, while we try to improve everything about Sub Rosa. Thanks for your support, in the past, and into the future. ...
Sub Rosa - 05urn:md5:589c998b30ef38b694cdd334ea36308d2015-04-11T22:25:00+01:002015-04-11T22:25:00+01:00balderSub RosaAllemagneForbidden HistoryForbidden ScienceFranceHébraïsmeMagicMythologyRevueRévisionnismeScienceSeconde guerre mondialeTroisième Reich

I continue to be amazed at the quality of contributors that our little magazine attracts. In the past, we’ve had Graham Hancock, Jacques Vallee and Alex Grey, among a host of other great writers, researchers and artists. Our new issue is no different; we are privileged to have some of the leading lights in parapsychology research, alternative history and new thought giving their input into the various mysteries facing humanity. Dr Dean Radin should need no introduction, as he is considered one of the foremost popularisers of psi research, via his original book The Conscious Universe, and now with his newly released Entangled Minds. Dr Radin has been kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule and chat to us about the latest news and views in the field of parapsychology. Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince are partly responsible for the Da Vinci mania which has swept the world in the past few years, as Dan Brown based parts of his book on their alternative history tome The Templar Revelation. In their article in this issue, they return to the source in a sense, by taking a closer look at the documents which heralded the ‘arrival’ of the Priory of Sion. Daniel Pinchbeck represents the cream of writing talent – he has it all, and beyond that Daniel is one of the deepest thinkers out there on alternative topics. His latest book 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl covers the gamut of subjects, ranging from crop circles to parapsychology, right through to altered states of consciousness and channelled messages. Strangely enough, many of the topics in this issue are mentioned explicitly in his book, although I had already assembled the content of the magazine before I had the chance to read his work. Lastly, a little curveball. Laurence Newnam contacted me about advertising in the previous issue of Sub Rosa, and also kindly sent me a viewing copy of his DVD CircleSpeak. Upon viewing it, I felt compelled to ask Laurence to write for us about his experience in making the documentary, such is its quality (see the review in this issue). I do realise that opens the door for accusations of pandering to advertisers, but I think anyone who watches the feature will understand why I asked Laurence to share more information about CircleSpeak with the community. It is a shame that there are not more resources like it around in the alternative community. I’m hoping that Sub Rosa stands on similar ground! ...
Sub Rosa - 04urn:md5:6bc9426b4d3ce8c11756f1174f23986d2015-04-11T22:20:00+01:002015-04-11T21:22:40+01:00balderSub RosaAllemagneForbidden HistoryForbidden ScienceFranceHébraïsmeMagicMythologyRevueRévisionnismeScienceSeconde guerre mondialeTroisième Reich

Welcome to the first issue of Sub Rosa for 2006. Somehow the team has put together yet another content-packed issue, in between ‘real’ jobs, new additions to families, and the usual Christmas madness. We’ve had regular comments to the effect that every issue is better than the last, which is really gratifying (although a little daunting to keep up with expectation!). This issue we seem to have developed a theme about contact with ‘non-human intelligences’. We’ve got got an exclusive interview with one of the best scientists investigating fringe topics, Dr Jacques Vallee. We profile cryptozoologist Loren Coleman, and also have an article from Colm Kelleher and George Knapp on the infamous ‘Skinwalker Ranch’ in Utah. On top of all that, we also have an insightful piece from Margaret Starbird on Mary Magdalene – Margaret’s work has reached a new audience lately after her books were endorsed in Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code. A growing number of advertisers have been contacting us, and so you’ll notice a fair amount of ads in this issue. We try to restrict our placements to topical and well-presented ads, in order to keep the magazine as high quality as possible. We appreciate greatly the support of these advertisers, as the small amount of income we earn from them is what allows us to keep releasing issues. So please, support them in return if you find their ad interesting! As mentioned in the last issue, we also now accept donations to help support the magazine. And if you’re not in a financial position to offer a donation, why not help out in some other way – for example, passing on the web link to your friends or online communities, or even printing out a few flyers and distributing them? We are very serious about getting Sub Rosa into print, and have been exploring our options over the past few months. Currently, we have over 500 people who have indicated they would subscribe to a print version, which is absolutely brilliant. However, we will need to triple that number in order to launch the magazine and know that it will be financially viable. So please, let us know if you would subscribe. ...
Sub Rosa - 02urn:md5:f08cb1f1867cebb62e7b0f34cb86b3452015-04-11T22:19:00+01:002015-04-11T21:20:29+01:00balderSub RosaEuropeForbidden HistoryForbidden ScienceMagicMythologyRevueScienceWotan

We’re back! Issue 2 of Sub Rosa has taken a little longer to release than we would have liked, but it wasn’t our fault – really Your Honour! Our cover story with Graham Hancock meant that we had to hold off on publication until closer to the release of his new book Supernatural – I think it’s well worth the wait though, with Graham sharing some insights into the research and writing of what is sure to be a controversial best-seller! Not to fear, we should return to a more regular schedule for subsequent issues. I’d like to thank all readers for their support of our magazine, with Issue 1 being downloaded by around 10,000 people already (and sure to increase as it remains freely available for download). We’ve had a lot of positive feedback, so it’s gratifying to know that our hard work is being appreciated. We’ve also incorporated changes to this issue on the basis of some of that feedback, such as the change in font to try and help out with reading difficulties. Please do continue to let us know your thoughts. Thanks also to the many offers of support, both from writers and advertisers. You know you are on to something special when you have to turn down fascinating essays because they just won’t fit into the next issue. Needless to say, we’ll have no problem with content for the next few issues! With so many offers of support, the problem becomes one of finding a good balance of topics to suit all readers, while keeping some consistency to each issue. In this issue, you’ll find a number of different articles which address the issue of entheogens, alien abductions and altered states of consciousness – although from quite different angles. Obviously, we can’t create an issue that will completely satisfy all readers, but we hope that we’ve offered a fascinating cross-section of articles for your reading pleasure. The very nature of Sub Rosa, in covering subjects which are on the edge of the paradigm, or recovered from the depths of history and even pre-history, means that we also ask you to employ your intelligence and inherent skepticism when reading through the magazine. It is very likely that some of the material we cover may not stand the test of intense and prolonged scrutiny. However, we feel that the positives in offering a forum for new and cutting-edge ideas far outweigh any negatives, as we believe that all ideas are entitled to see the light of day and get a fair hearing. Unlike some other magazines and groups, we put our trust in the intelligence of our readers. Thanks once again for the overwhelming support for the Sub Rosa project. As we move forward, we’ll be adding new aspects to the magazine, and exploring new ways of realising our potential. Please, if you value what we’re doing, continue to offer feedback, ideas, and most importantly, keep reading! ...
