Foreword. By the first century AD historical records reveal peoples settled from the shores of the Atlantic to India all speaking languages closely related to one another. These are the Indo-European languages whose origins can be traced back to a common ancestor that was spoken in Eurasia some 6,ooo years ago. We call the people who spoke this ancestral language the Indo-Europeans or Proto-IndoEuropeans. But although we can give them a name, they are unlike almost any other ancient people we are likely to encounter. As the linguistic ancestors of nearly halfthis planet's population they are one of the most important entities in the prehistoric record - and yet they are also one of the most elusive. No ProtoIndo- European text exists; their physical remains and material culture cannot be identified without extensive argument; and their geographical location has been the subject of a century and a half of intense yet inconclusive debate. To attempt to survey the origins of all the different Indo-Europeans and then track each of them to their original homeland and discuss their common culture is a task to daunt any single writer and certainly outrun the competence of any single scholar. Out in the academic world neither of these problems has ever been a serious deterrent, and in the past century there have been at least seventy volumes published as general surveys of the Indo-Europeans and their origins. Yet, other than sporadic attempts to resolve the problem of IndoEuropean origins with cursory reference to the different Indo-European peoples, there has not been a full general survey of the Indo-Europeans in English for at least a half century. This has encouraged me to produce this volume to fill the gap. ...
Joseph Frank - Discovering the mysteries of ancient Americaurn:md5:654aae71114a83f76ae0aaad1ae6ad0a2017-10-09T23:49:00+01:002018-04-14T19:52:50+01:00balderJoseph FrankAmericaArchéologieBolchéviqueConspirationHébraïsmeRussieRévolution

Introduction. America b.c. : Before Columbus by Frank Joseph, Editor, Ancient American. Ancient American is a unique publication; since publisher Wayne May founded it in 1993, this popular science magazine has released more than 72 issues presenting unconventional conclusions backed up by often startling discoveries that question established theories about America’s past. A free-forum, bi-monthly periodical, Ancient American features the research of university-trained professionals and avocational enthusiasts alike. Between them, a new vision of our continent, radically at odds with mainstream archaeology, is beginning to emerge. ...

Introduction. An Atlas of World archeology is a challenging enterprise. World archaeology has only recently become a reality. Indeed only for the past thirty years has it technically even been a possibility. When dealing with the early human past, the first question which one must answer, and the very crux of the matter when trying to discover what actually happened, is 'when' ? When did the significant changes, which we are trying to understand, take place in different parts of the world ? If the human species first developed in Africa, as now seems to be the case, when did people first move from Africa to Asia, and then to Europe ? When were the Americas first peopled? When did the ancestors of the aborigines first arrive in Australia ? These are questions which can, at last, be answered, even though some of these answers are still provisional. Coherent views are emerging on these topics (and are surveyed in Section two of this Atlas). ...
Piggott Stuart - The dawn of civilizationurn:md5:33bd2816698163564fe3fa9f060e5d8a2017-01-29T15:27:00+00:002017-02-06T02:41:23+00:00balderPiggott StuartAmericaArchéologieAsiaCeltesChinaCivilizationsEgyptEnglandEnglandEuropeGermanyGreeceIndiaIraqMexicoPérouReligionScandinaviaSecond World WarSouth AmericaWestern Civilization series

Foreword. Almost exactly three years ago the initial scheme for The Dawn of Civilization saw its first light - not unsuitably - amongst the stones of Stonehenge. Now as the project reaches its final stages, these lines are being written in the shadow of London's British Museum. This chance link between the library shelves and showcases of Bloomsbury and the grey sarsens of Salisbury Plain is in a way emblematic of the aims of this book-to bring together not only the visible remains of man's past achievements but the less impressive though no less important minutiae of the scholar, the pot-sherds, plans, and sections which are the archaeologist's basic tools no less than his trowel. The Dawn of Civilization has been from the start a co-operative venture; nor could' it have been otherwise. In the first place, the editing of such a complex volume has been made possible only by the nnremitting work of Mr J. V. S. Megaw, who has acted throughout as my Assistant Editor. He has nndertaken innumerable tasks of research; liaison and co-ordination, and above all has made himself mainly responsible, in co-operation with the authors, for the illustrations which we feel form so essential and notable a part of the work. Here, with infinite patience and the eyes of an expert, Mrs Eva Neurath has made us steer a strict course between the archaeologically necessary and the artistically valuable. In a subject where the expert all too often seems to be one who learns more and more about less and less it has been our good fortnne to work with authors, all scholars in their own right, but whose interests also embrace fields outside their own. As a result each separate chapter though designed as an entity contributes to the general underlying theme of man's development as a social animal. The cooperation of the authors has gone far beyond the arduous preparation of texts; their advice-and criticism-has been invaluable in the collection and preparation of illustrations and material for the rnnning captions for the half-tone sections which have been the responsibility of the publishers. These last have been prepared as a parallel commentary to the main texts, to describe in words the points made by the pictorial matter; if the captions succeed in this aim the Editor at least will be gratified. With regard to the texts in general, Mr Max Parrish has been a tower of strength, as helpful as he has been selfeffacing. One note of warning; in three years much work has been done on old material and much new fonnd and thus it must be remembered that time and not always carelessness is responsible for some omissions and inaccuracies which may present themselves to the discerning reader. As we go to press Hactlar has revealed new splendours and Knossos added more problems to those of past seasons, while in Africa the dawn of man himself is receding ever further. The illustrations have presented a major task solved not only by the travels of photographers (whose commissions in one case led by Land-Rover from Athens to Karachi) and architects preparing reconstructions sometimes on the very sites concerned, but also through the kindness of those many government departments, institutions, and individuals mentioned by name in the List and Sources of Illustrations. Over and above these it would only be courtesy to single out for their ready assistance in affording special photographic facilities the Directors of the Government Archaeological Services of Cyprus, Greece, Iran, Iraq, the Lebanon, Pakistan, and Turkey. The Chinese People's Association for Cultural Relations with Foreign Conntries, the Griffith Institute, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, the Society for Cultural Relations with the U.S.S.R., and the Trade Delegation of the U. S. S. R. in the U.K. have been agents in obtaining some unique source material. Mr Megaw feels that on countless occasions he may have tried, but not it is hoped exhausted, the patience of many friends and colleagues. In this connection he is particularly grateful to the following members of the staff of the British Museum: Dr R. D. Barnett, Mr J. W.Brailsford, Mr Adrian Digby, Mr R.A.Higgins, Mr T. G. H. James, and Dr D. J. Wiseman. Learned libraries have also rendered sterling service, chief amongst them being those of the Institute of Archaeology, University of London (Miss Joan du Plat Taylor and Miss G. C. Talbot), the Department of Egyptology, University College, London (Miss K. E. Cynthia Cox), and the Society of Antiquaries of London (Mr John Hopkins). If any source has gone. nnacknowledged through ignorance or neglect the fault is entirely that of the Editor and Assistant Editor. They must be held responsible for such omissions. Finally I have written elsewhere in this volume that it has been our purpose throughout not only to interest but to excite. If this should indeed be the impact of The Dawn of Civilization on both scholar and layman then we shall feel that three years have not been spent in vain. Stuart Piggot. Introduction. The Myth of the 'Dark Ages'. David Talbot Rice. UNTIL NOT so LONG AGO it was sufficient for a student of the age in which we live to concern himself with a study of Europe, but the emergence of Russia, the development of Asia and, more recently, the assumption of independence by a mass of minor states in Mrica, have led to a widening of our horizons regarding the present, and a similar change has begun to assail our outlook towards the past. Thus the study of the early medieval phase of the culture of western Europe seemed until recently to be a comparatively simple and limited affair; it was enough for an Englishman to know something of the reigns of kings like Canute and Alfred, with perhaps a grounding in the warlike activities of Queen Boadicea against the Romans; for a Frenchman or a German some information about the wars of Charlemagne and his successors was enough, while an Italian could conveniently forget the whole age between the decline of imperial Roman power and the emergence of Florence in the 14th century. But now we are beginning to realize that a new, more comprehensive approach to our early history is necessary, and that today it is essential to pay very much more attention to certain aspects of man's life that were once wholly disregarded. Events in eastern Europe must thus be studied in addition to those in the west, while some consideration of the age of migrations and wanderings is just as necessary to a true understanding of later ages as an appreciation of the debt left by Rome. And further, it is essential to take into account the interaction of the various regions one upon another and of the influence that was exercised on the West by regions to the East, more especially Syria. ...

Gray Jonathan - Dead men's secretsurn:md5:61219567812034c5d24dc739354357ed2015-05-19T01:02:00+01:002015-05-19T00:03:57+01:00balderGray JonathanArchéologieCivilizationsConspiracyEconomyForbidden History

Prologue. At the time, Professor Martin Byron was in Melbourne, Australia, on a scientific lecture tour. He had just stepped under the shower, when a sharp tingle sent him scurrying to his bedside phone. Pasadena, California. “Martin, there’s been another sighting of the Black Knight. The NASA men are calling for details. Kazantsev in Moscow is pushing for an immediate expedition to the vicinity. We want you back as soon as possible.” Byron set down the receiver. So it was on again. Not sighted for twenty years. And now…He snatched up the mouthpiece and dialed another number. I was still some fifteen minutes away from Byron’s hotel apartment, which afforded time for reflection. It was, I recalled, in October 1957, that man’s most daring triumph— Sputnik I—had been rocketed suddenly into orbit 584 miles above the earth. With excitement, mingled almost with disbelief, millions worldwide had scanned the night sky to glimpse that shining artificial moon skimming on its path east to west against the canopy of stars. Within four months America had followed suit. So, after aeons of tortoise-paced development, humanity had suddenly leapt off the planet; it was startling—and we were alive to see it! Then came a bizarre discovery. It was hushed up quickly, I recalled. I was now at Byron’s hotel. The ignition key off, I sat, musing. As tracking stations swung into action to monitor these new moons, the night sky had tossed up an awesome mystery. Another satellite was discovered already in orbit. Certainly it was neither American nor Russian—and the uncanny truth was nobody else had the technology. French astronomer Jacques Valle of the Paris Observatory, saw it three times in 1961 and got eleven data points in forty-five seconds. It seemed to he orbiting in reverse at an altitude of over 22,000 miles above the earth. Experts were jolted. Who put this satellite into orbit? How long had it been there? ...
Hutin Serge - Hommes et civilisations fantastiquesurn:md5:1cb883d33282327dc391a199dac2c5312014-10-20T21:18:00+01:002014-10-20T20:54:59+01:00balderHutin SergeArchéologieCivilisationsConspirationConspirationFranceHistoire InterditeHébraïsmeIsraëlOVNIRothschild

Introduction. ...
Tristan Sylvain - Les Lignes d'orurn:md5:25e8f6365c4bb7eaff0baf03171656462014-06-02T17:06:00+01:002014-06-02T16:38:42+01:00balderTristan SylvainAmericaArchéoastronomieArchéologieAtlantideCivilisationsConspiracyEuropeGéo-ingénierieHyperboréeJew

Preface to the first edition. It has taken a long time for the contents of this book to be translated from diagrams on a blackboard, which gave students considerable amusement, into words. It has been encouraged by the nervous laughter of my seniors, hindered by the lack of dialogue between them. I hope that those who gave me the confidence to write this book will not now regret having done so, and wish that those who follow gain as much pleasure and excitement in unlocking the many doors that have remained barred for too long. A number of colleagues, family and friends have always been willing to discuss the problems posed by early Anglo-Saxon archaeology, and to share their ideas, especially Richard Morris, Paul Reilly, Janet Arnold (née Bell), Jeremy Huggett, Julian Richards and the ducks, to whom I am most grateful. ...

Cremo Michael A. - Thompson Richard L. - The hidden history of the human raceurn:md5:06472fceeecde9603f316a4da768325a2014-01-16T15:39:00+00:002014-01-16T17:04:57+00:00balderCremo Michael A.AkhnatonArchéologieEgyptForbidden HistoryUFO

Foreword Human prehistory is not something about which anyone ought to be dogmatic. A few years ago, the “Mitochondrial Eve” hypothesis was being presented to the public virtually as fact; now it is under acloud. Only afew days before I wrote these words, newspaper stories reported the redating of a skull fragment in Java attributed to Homo erectus. Now said to be 1.8 million years old, the fossil seemingly places this claimed ancestral species in Asia long before it was supposed to have migrated from Africa. Evidence of this kind could receive wide publicity because, although it disappoints the expectations of some paleoanthropologists, it excites others and does not threaten the coherence of the accepted picture of human evolution in any fundamental way. But what if an apparently modern human fossil were found in sediments dated two million years old? Would the astonishing finding receive credence? Possibly there would be irresistible pressure to recalculate the date, to reattribute the fossil to some prehuman species, to question the competence of the discoverer, and eventually to forget the whole thing. According to Michael Cremo and Richard Thompson, something of that sort has happened before, and happened often. This is because of a dual standard that is applied to evaluate evidence. Evidence of early humans or their tools is readily accepted if it fits with the orthodox model of human evolution. Evidence that is just as reliable, but which does not fit the model, is ignored or even suppressed. It fairly quickly drops from the literature, and within a few generations is almost as invisible as if it had never been. As a result, it is virtually impossible for rival understandings of early human history to gain credence. The evidence that would have supported them is no longer available to be considered. In their lengthy work titled Forbidden Archaeology, Cremo and Thompson provided a stunning description of some of the evidence that was once known to Science, but which has disappeared from view due to the “knowledge filter” that protects the ruling paradigm. The detective work required to unearth this evidence was impressive, and the authors reported what they had found and how they had found it in such careful detail, and with such thorough analysis, that they deserved to be taken seriously. Unfortunately, relatively few professional scientists are willing to consider evidence that upsets prevailing views and comes from a source out of the academic mainstream. This present work presents a summary of the larger work for the ordinary reader, and I hope it will attract the attention of fairminded professionals, who may then be motivated to study the much more detailed presentation of the same evidence in the original volume. The authors frankly acknowledge their motivation to support the idea, rooted in the Vedic literature of India, that the human race is of great antiquity. I do not share their religion or their motivation, but I also do not think that there is anything disreputable about a religious outlook which is candidly disclosed. Scientists like other human beings all have motives, and biases that may cloud their judgment, and the dogmatic materialism that controls the minds of many mainstream scientists is far more likely to do damage to the truth because it is not acknowledged as a bias. In the end the important thing is not why the investigators were motivated to look for a certain kind of evidence, but whether they found something worth reporting, and worth serious consideration by the scientific community. As far as I am able to judge, Cremo and Thompson have reported evidence that is very much worth that kind of serious consideration. I am not writing this Foreword to endorse their findings, but to encourage serious students of the subject to give them a fair hearing. This is a very interesting book, which makes for exciting reading. I would like very much to see how well the evidence it reports stands up to fair-minded scrutiny from the best-informed readers, who may be glad to have the chance to examine evidence that was not included in the textbooks and review articles they were given in their college and graduate school classes. Preface. The purpose of this volume is to give a summary of what is known of American Antiquities, with some thoughts and suggestions relative to their significance. It aims at nothing more. No similar work, I believe, has been published in English or in any other language. What is known of American Archaeology is recorded in a great many volumes, English, French, Spanish, and German, each work being confined to some particular department of the subject, or containing only an intelligent traveler's brief sketches of what he saw as he went through some of the districts where the old ruins are found. Many of the more important of these works are either in French or Spanish, or in great English quartos and folios which are not accessible to general readers, and not one of them attempts to give a comprehensive view of the whole subject. ...
Wilson Colin - L'archéologie interditeurn:md5:1c884b60f96f32c85f3f8254ad3494232013-11-09T01:10:00+00:002013-11-10T01:30:40+00:00balderWilson ColinArchéologieAtlantideCivilisationsConspirationEgypteJewSphinx

Introduction. ...
Zillmer Hans-Joachim - L'erreur de Darwinurn:md5:191a3f1e7d3bfe1fad0ae61f8bf8f28c2013-10-28T00:10:00+00:002013-10-28T00:10:00+00:00balderZillmer Hans-JoachimArchéologieCharles DarwinRacialisme

Remerciements. Introduction. ...
Watzman Haim - Archeology vs. the Bibleurn:md5:a6686b8f992d19168370ce1a9bbf42022013-05-16T00:32:00+01:002013-05-15T23:36:05+01:00balderWatzman HaimArchéologieChristianityJew
